Review of Notion AI
Notion AI is a set of AI features built into the Notion workspace. You can summarize notes, translate documents, generate action items, draft content, and answer questions about your Notion database. Launched in 2023, it has become a default feature for millions of Notion users.
It's already in your workspace. No new tool to learn. Click 'Ask AI' or use the slash command, and you're using AI inside the same page you're working in.
Summarization is great. Paste a long meeting transcript or document, and Notion AI produces a clean summary with action items. Saves 15-30 minutes per meeting.
Q&A on your Notion data is magical. 'What did we decide about pricing in Q1?' — Notion AI searches your pages and gives you an answer with sources. Great for personal knowledge management.
Translation is built in. Translate any page into 10+ languages while preserving formatting. Useful for international teams.
It's not best-in-class for writing. The writing quality is good, but Claude or ChatGPT produce better prose. Use Notion AI for quick edits, not major drafts.
No image generation. Unlike ChatGPT or Claude, Notion AI doesn't generate images. You can search Unsplash, but not create custom visuals.
Limited context window. It works on the current page or database, not your whole workspace. Long Q&A chains lose context.
Add-on pricing is annoying. Notion AI costs $10/month per user on top of the Notion plan. For teams, this adds up fast.
Notion Free: 20 AI responses per workspace member. Notion Plus: $10/month per user, 100 AI responses. Notion Business: $18/month per user, 500 AI responses. Enterprise: custom.
Notion users who want AI features in their existing workflow. Teams that already pay for Notion. Not for those wanting the best AI writing quality.
★ 4/5. Best for Notion users. Skip if you don't use Notion — Claude or ChatGPT are better standalone AI tools.
