What is Replit Agent?

Replit Agent is Replit's AI that lives inside the Replit IDE. You describe an app, and it builds the whole thing: frontend, backend, database, and deployment. Launched in late 2024, it's the most 'end-to-end' AI builder on the market.

What we like

It actually deploys. Unlike v0 or Lovable, Replit Agent handles the full deployment pipeline. You get a live URL at the end, not just code.

The IDE integration is seamless. The agent writes code, runs it, sees errors, and fixes them. You watch the whole process in a sidebar.

Database and auth are built in. Replit's native Postgres and auth work out of the box. The agent uses them by default.

Good for learning. You can pause the agent at any point and inspect the code. It's a great way to learn how real apps are structured.

What we don't like

Slow iterations. A single prompt takes 5-10 minutes to fully execute. If you want to change something, you wait again.

Replit lock-in. The generated code uses Replit-specific packages and services. Moving to your own infrastructure is non-trivial.

Token costs are unpredictable. Heavy use can burn $50-100 in a single session. The check-ins help, but it's still easy to overspend.

Limited to web apps. Mobile, desktop, and games are not supported. The agent is web-first.

Pricing

Replit Core: $25/month includes Agent credits. Agent Autoscale: pay-per-use, $0.0001/second of compute. Enterprise: custom.

Who is it for?

Indie hackers, students, founders who want to go from idea to deployed app without leaving the browser.

Verdict

★ 4/5. The most end-to-end AI builder. Best for prototyping, less for production engineering.
