The rankings are based on velocity (today's activity), not lifetime popularity. No paid placement. No sponsored rankings. Just what's actually trending.

• 201 hand-written tool reviews — Each review is 4000-10000 words, based on 30+ days of real testing, with Honest Numbers section pulled from live GitHub/npm/PyPI APIs. Plus 232 auto-generated reviews marked noindex (factual, updated daily, but not indexed to avoid the 'low value content' flag).
• 14 alternatives / comparisons / best pages — Real head-to-head testing. For example, "ChatGPT vs Claude" is based on 412 task runs across 6 categories, $80 spent in real subscriptions.
• Daily and Weekly leaderboards — Top 30 today plus Today's Media AI (video, image, audio tools trending now)
• Search — /find lets you search by what you need: "video editor under $20" or "AI voice cloning"

About me

I'm Alex Liu, a full-stack developer based in Shanghai. I built saas.pet as a side project in 2024 because every AI tools directory I found was either 700 logos with no way to filter, or clearly ranking by affiliate commissions rather than quality.

I've been testing and reviewing AI tools since 2024 — 700+ tools tested, 332 reviews published. I write code during the day and reviews at night. saas.pet is my attempt to build the AI tools site I wish existed when I started.

How I test tools

Every hand-written review follows the same process:

1. Paid subscription — I pay for the premium tier out of my own pocket. No vendor sponsorships, no free review accounts. If a tool has a free tier, I start there and upgrade if needed.
2. 2+ weeks of daily use — Not a 30-minute demo. I use each tool for real work: writing, coding, generating images, editing videos, whatever the tool is built for.
3. Head-to-head comparisons — I test against 2-3 competing tools with the same prompts and tasks. The review includes specific numbers: "Pika won 70% of the time on motion control" not "Pika is good at motion."
4. Honest cons — Every review has a "Where it falls short" section. If a tool is bad, I say so. If the pricing is unfair, I say so. The site earns $0 from the tools I review.

Editorial safeguards

Hand-written reviews are marked with an author_written: true flag in our system. They are never rewritten by automated templates. If you see a review that's 4000+ words with specific numbers and personal experience, it's hand-written by me or a verified contributor.

Automated reviews (from daily trending data) are clearly factual and updated daily with real metrics: star counts, description, pricing, and category. They are not hand-written but they are not fake either — they're accurate snapshots of what's trending.
