Review of Suno v4
Suno v4 is the latest version of Suno's AI music generator. You describe a song in natural language, and it produces a full track with vocals, lyrics, instruments, and production. Launched in late 2024, v4 was a major leap in quality and is now being used by indie artists and content creators.
The quality is genuinely impressive. v4 songs don't sound obviously AI. The vocals are natural, the production is clean, and the lyrics make sense.
2-4 minute full songs. You can generate complete songs, not just clips. Many users have released Suno-generated tracks on Spotify and Apple Music.
Custom mode is powerful. You can write your own lyrics, choose a style, and Suno handles the music. Or you can use 'simple mode' and let Suno write everything.
Stem export. Pro and Premier plans let you export individual stems (vocals, drums, bass, other). You can remix, edit, and arrange in a DAW.
It's not a songwriter. Suno can mimic styles and genres, but it doesn't write hooks that get stuck in your head. The songs are 'good', not 'great'.
Vocals can be inconsistent. Sometimes the AI sings off-key, or the pronunciation is wrong. You need to regenerate multiple times.
Copyright is murky. Suno is being sued by major labels. The legal status of AI-generated music is unsettled. Some distributors won't accept it.
Limited fine control. You can't specify 'make the chorus bigger' or 'add a synth here'. You describe the song, Suno interprets.
Free: 10 songs/day, non-commercial. Pro: $10/month for 500 songs, commercial use. Premier: $30/month for 2000 songs.
Content creators who need background music, indie artists prototyping songs, marketers creating jingles. Not yet a replacement for human songwriters.
★ 4.5/5. The best AI music generator. Good enough to release, not good enough to replace musicians.
