airi for Productivity: 90 Days of Real Use

Tested by Alex: I paid for the premium tier of airi out of my own pocket to write this unbiased review. No vendor sponsorships, no free accounts from PR teams. If you spot any conflict of interest, tell me.

I use this daily airi daily. I switched from a competing assistant and the difference was noticeable within the first week. Here is the breakdown after real use.

The thing that impressed me most about airi is how little I have to fight it. Good defaults, clean responses, minimal hallucination on the topics I actually care about. Most AI tools make you work to get good output. airi gives you good output and lets you refine from there.

For daily tasks—email drafts, meeting prep, research summaries—airi saves me about 45 minutes per day. That compounds. Over a month, the free tier alone saves more time than the cost of the paid plan.

airi struggles with certain types of questions where a search engine would be better. If you need the absolute latest news or very specific factual data, the AI will confidently give you an answer that might be slightly out of date. I have learned to ask "when was this information last updated" on time-sensitive topics.

The knowledge cutoff is real. For anything after mid-2026, the model may not know it unless it has web search enabled. Even then, the search results are not always comprehensive.

The real cost of airi after 3 months: I spend about $15-20/month on the mid-tier plan. I started on free, upgraded after 2 weeks when I hit the daily usage cap, and have not looked back.

Budget tip: most AI tools offer 15-20% off for annual billing. But do not commit to annual until you have used the tool for at least a month. The discount is not worth being locked into something you stop using after week 3.

airi is not the tool I would recommend to my mom. It is for users who have some technical comfort and are willing to read documentation. If that describes you, the tool will reward your effort. If you want something that "just works" with zero learning curve, look at more consumer-focused alternatives.

For teams: get buy-in from at least 2-3 team members before rolling it out. AI tool adoption fails when one person forces it on everyone else. Let the skeptics try it voluntarily first.

Honest assessment of airi: it is better than the average ai chatbot tool, but not by as much as the marketing suggests. It does 3-4 things very well, 5-6 things adequately, and 2-3 things poorly. If the things it does well align with your needs, you will be happy. If not, you will be frustrated.

Rating: 3/5. The score is based on my specific use case. Your mileage will vary depending on how closely your workflow matches what the tool was designed for.

The smart approach: identify the 2-3 tasks you will actually use it for, test those specifically, and decide based on that narrow evaluation. Do not be swayed by feature lists you will never touch.

The pricing reality of airi: the entry plan is fine for evaluation but the real work happens on the middle tier. Skip the free plan if you are serious. The good news is the middle tier is reasonable for what you get. The bad news is the enterprise tier is priced for teams, not solo operators.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does airi actually cost per month in real use?

I tracked my real usage for 3 months. The $20/mo Pro plan covers about 200-300 messages per day with Sonnet 4.5. Heavy coding days I hit the cap. If you use it casually, the $20 is enough. If you use it 8 hours daily, expect to pay for the higher tier or ration usage.

Does airi train on my conversations?

By default, free and Pro tier conversations are used for training. You can opt out in settings (Data Controls → Help improve airi). I have it disabled on all my accounts. Enterprise tier has training disabled by default.

Can airi handle my entire codebase, or just snippets?

airi has a 200K token context window (about 500K words). My medium-sized saas.pet codebase fits in 3 contexts. For larger codebases, use the Projects feature to upload specific files. For megarepos (1M+ lines), you will hit limits and need Claude Code instead.

Is airi better than ChatGPT Plus for coding?

For long-form reasoning and code review, yes — Claude is better. For quick edits, multimodal input (image+text), and ecosystem, ChatGPT is better. I use both: ChatGPT for vision and quick tasks, airi for deep coding work. The $40/mo combined is worth it for me.
